Music, food, some amazing clothes and accessories from across the globe, vintage items and live concerts are a part of this market. It’s more inviting during December due to its hippie atmosphere, a unique experience that you won’t get anywhere in India!

4. Casinos: Casinos are functional all through the year. But the way they are abuzz during December is surely something! When you visit a casino in Goa in December, you will realise why it’s called the Las Vegas of India.

5. New Year’s: Goa is the paradise for party lovers, even more so in the winter months. Who wouldn’t like to let their hair down to trance music under the clear skies and white sand tickling the toes? Fireworks and celebrations are endless during New Year’s and the night just doesn’t end!

Black money case: Modi govt reveals 3 names in Supreme Court

The Central government disclosed the names of three Indians holding illegal foreign bank accounts in an affidavit submitted before the Supreme Court on Monday. The three names are Dabur chairman Pradeep Burman, Rajkot-based bullion trader Pankaj Chalamanlal Lodhia and Goa-based mining baron Radha Timloo.
Other Indians being investigated for allegedly stashing black money in foreign banks in Switzerland are four from the Congress, according to reports on Monday. Among them is a former minister in Manmohan Singh's government who lost the Lok Sabha election in May.
In its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had promised to bring back the black money alleged stashed in foreign banks. However, a controversial application submitted in the Supreme Court earlier this month expressed the NDA government's inability to reveal the names because of bilateral double taxation treaties India has signed with many countries - an argument that the previous UPA government had also used when the case was heard during their tenure.
The Modi government's U-turn on black money was severely criticised by the opposition parties, especially the Congress, which accused the Centre of doublespeak and politicising the issue.
The Centre's stand also prompted senior Supreme Court lawyer and main petitioner in the black money case, Ram Jethmalani, to write a scathing letter to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, accusing him of taking an "ill-advised" stand on the issue in the apex court.
When asked about the letter, Ram Jethmalani told reporters that he did it as a citizen of India. "I don't care about the BJP. I care about the people of India, it is your money," he said.
Jethmalani's sharp reactions on the black money row came shortly after the Congress said it will not be embarrassed if a name belonging to the party figures in the list of Indians holding illegal foreign bank accounts, calling it an "individual transgression".
Jaitley had warned the Congress of embarrassment when the list of Indians hoarding black money in other countries is revealed. "Whatever name is there will embarrass the individual, the party won't be. These are individual transgressions," Jaitley's predecessor as Union Finance Minister and senior Congress spokesperson, P Chidambaram, told a TV channel on Friday.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Profile

Early life and family
Samantha Ruth Prabhu was born to a Malayali mother and a Telugu father on 28 April 1987 and was brought up in a typical middle-class household,[3] in the Chennai suburb of Pallavaram, Tamil Nadu, becoming fluent in the Tamil language.[8] Commenting on her sense of identity, the actress has stated that despite her ethnic background she sees herself as a Tamil, as she was brought up speaking the language along with English at home.[9][10] Samantha attended and completed her schooling at St.Stephens Matriculation school, Pallavaram, and Holy Angels Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, T.Nagar, Chennai. She then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Stella Maris College, Chennai.[9] Samantha has said that she did modelling for earning pocket money, and that acting happened to her. In 2013, the actress decided to shift base from Chennai to Hyderabad.[11] In 2014, she bought a house in Boat Club Road, a posh locality in Chennai where many high profile people live.
Debut in 2010
Samantha's first release was Indira Productions' Gautham Menon directed Telugu film, Ye Maaya Chesave. The film, simultaneously made in Tamil as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, created much anticipation prior to release, due primarily to the first-time-collaboration between Gautham Menon and composer A. R. Rahman.[12] The actress was signed up for the project in mid August 2009 and completed shoots across India and the United States, and the film was released on 26 February 2010.[13] In the film, Samantha plays the lead character Jessie, which was also the working title of the film, a Malayali Saint Thomas Christian girl living in Hyderabad, with whom the male protagonist, played by Naga Chaitanya, falls in love. Upon release of the film, Samantha received very positive reviews for her portrayal, with the film itself garnering much critical acclaim.[14] Critics at Sify praised Samantha as a "scene-stealer" and her beauty as "alluring", adding that "she was the girl to watch out for".[14] Jeevi, from the Idlebrain reviews site, wrote that "Samantha's debut is one of the best heroine debuts in Telugu cinema" and noted that the "minute expressions she gave spoke volumes about her", whilst labelling the film as a "classic". Samantha, alongside her co-star, Naga Chaitanya, also appeared in a cameo role in the Tamil version of the film.[15] Both the Telugu and the Tamil versions of the films proved to be grand successes, propelling Samantha's career into bigger projects.[16] She followed up her collaborations with Gautham Menon and A. R. Rahman by appearing in the music video for the World Classical Tamil Conference 2010 promotional song, Semmozhiyaana Tamizh Mozhiyaam, which Menon directed and Rahman composed.

Samantha's next release was the Sathya Jyothi-produced romantic drama, Baana Kaathadi, opposite Adharvaa. The film was actually the third Tamil project signed by the actress, but its release preceded the first two that she was contracted for due to delays in their completion.[17][18] Following terms agreed upon in early 2009, the film continued shoots for a year, and after several postponements finally released in August 2010 to positive response.[18][19] In the film, Samantha plays a student of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the first such role in Tamil cinema.[20] Her next release was Ravi Varman's Moscowin Kavery, originally her very first contract. The shooting for the film began in August 2007, with Samantha, then briefly credited with the screen name Yasodha, joining the team later in the year.[21] The film introduced a host of new actors, with the music scored by Thaman, who was making his debut as a film music director. In an interview, much prior to release in 2008, Ravi Varman mentioned that he had decided that Samantha would be the lead actress for his film within three minutes after viewing one of her commercial assignments.[22] In the interview, he went on to describe her as an actress with "intelligence" and "potential", whilst drawing comparisons with the noted actress, Revathi.[22] However, due to Ravi Varman's prior commitments as cinematographer in other projects, the film languished in development hell, eventually releasing in August 2010.[23] The film earned poor reviews from critics unanimously.[24] However Samantha's performance was credited as one of the sole highlights that the film offered.[25] In August 2008, while still completing her last three projects, Samantha also signed up to play the lead role of a modern girl in the Narain starrer, Pookada Ravi.[26] However, despite the shooting following schedule at regular intervals the project has stalled since 2009, and the film seems unlikely to be released.[27] Samantha went on to feature in Vamsi Paidipally's Telugu film Brindaavanam in which she had a supporting role alongside NTR Jr and Kajal Aggarwal.[28] Her performance as Indu was well received despite the role having a shorter screen time than the ones she had played in her previous films, and the film became her second successful one in Telugu.[29]

Struggling to Lose Weight? Drinking This May Help

By now we're well aware of the fact that our diet plays a crucial role in fighting weight woes. We've also known that certain foods cut fat, boost your metabolism and aid weight loss.
A latest study published in the journal Plos One, brings more good news. It has been found that drinking grapefruit juice not only helps in losing weight but also regulates blood sugar levels.

Celebrities and dieters have long sworn by the miraculous benefits of grapefruit and now scientists have confirmed the same.  "There are many active compounds in grapefruit juice, and we don't always understand how all those compounds work," noted Andreas Stahl, Professor of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology at the University of California, Berkeley in the US. (More: Juicing - How to Lose Weight & Become Fit)

The study conducted on mice found that those fed with a high-fat diet gained 18 percent less weight when they drank clarified, no-pulp grapefruit juice compared with a control group of mice that drank water.

"The grapefruit juice lowered blood glucose to the same degree as metformin. That means a natural fruit drink lowered glucose levels as effectively as a prescription drug," said Joseph Napoli from the same university. (More: These Leaves Curb Cravings, Aid Weight Loss)

The mice that ate a high-fat diet and drank diluted grapefruit juice not only gained less weight than their control counterparts, they also had a 13 to 17 percent decrease in blood glucose levels as well as a three-fold decrease in insulin levels. Based on these findings, researchers suggest that grapefruit can play a key role in managing diabetes. (More: What You Should Know Before Starting a Weight Loss Diet)

"These results, based on controlled experiments, warrant further study of the potential health-promoting properties of grapefruit juice," concluded Stahl.

Interesting, the 'Grapefruit Diet' has been very popular short-term fad diet in the United States ever since 1930s. It is also known as the Hollywood Diet. It shot to fame due to the fat burning properties of grapefruit and also because it is low in calories and carbohydrates. The diet includes eating half a grapefruit with  every meal for about 10-12 days. It has garnered a host of admirers like Kylie Minogue and Brooke Shields.
